About Tibet Society
Tibet Society, founded in 1959 within weeks after the flight of Dalai Lama from Tibet following uprising against China’s occupation, Tibet Society became the world’s first ever Tibet support group. Today, Tibet Society continues to work for the freedom of the Tibetan people and their right to self-determination.
The Tibet Society achieves its mission by seeking negotiation and change through dialogue, promoting understanding of Tibet’s history, culture and religion, lobbying through the All Party Parliamentary Group for Tibet, fostering a greater understanding between parliamentarians from the UK and the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, and supporting Tibetans to make their voice heard.
From a handful of dedicated individuals, Tibet Society has grown into an international organization empowered by the vision of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This website provides insights on different facets of Tibetan people and various takes on contemporary issues concerning Tibet.
